RWA & tokenized assets

RWA Tokenization APIs for Issuance, Servicing and Settlement

Connect blockchain contracts to the legal, identity, valuation, payment, servicing, and reconciliation systems that make a tokenized claim operationally meaningful.

Model the claim, asset, issuer, and deployment separately

An underlying asset, legal vehicle, token class, and blockchain contract are related but distinct. One asset can support multiple tranches with different rights, and one token class can have deployments on more than one network. Use versioned relationships rather than treating a contract address as the complete legal identity.

Record the nature of the claim, governing terms, authoritative register, jurisdiction, currency, valuation method, custody or recordkeeping references, supply rules, redemption terms, and lifecycle status. Keep sensitive documents in controlled storage and use hashes or references where integrity evidence is useful.

Use controlled workflows for issuance and redemption

Issuance may require asset onboarding, document review, investor eligibility, subscription, payment confirmation, allocation, approval, minting, and register update. Each step needs a state, responsible role, evidence, and allowed transition. An idempotent workflow resource is safer than a single privileged mint request.

Redemption similarly connects request, cutoff, calculation, payment, burn or lock, and register update. A burn without payment is not a completed redemption, and payment without token retirement creates an operational break. Return one stable lifecycle ID across both chain and off-chain events.

Make identity and transfer eligibility explicit

Tokenized assets may have jurisdiction, investor-type, sanctions, holding-limit, or lockup restrictions. Associate verified subjects with wallets through controlled evidence and evaluate each transfer under a versioned policy. Return allowed, denied, or review-required with reason codes and evidence references.

Minimize personal data on public chains and in application responses. Use internal subject IDs and attestations where appropriate. Define wallet revocation, recovery, replacement, and dispute procedures so ownership relationships can change without losing history.

Treat valuation, reserves, and servicing as first-class APIs

A valuation response should identify method, source, effective time, currency, and whether the value is final or estimated. Keep market price, calculated NAV, accrued interest, and reserve values separate. For distributions and corporate actions, store record dates, entitlements, calculations, deductions, payment status, and reconciliation evidence.

Reserve reporting needs provenance: period, included assets, liabilities, account or custodian references, attestation state, and publication time. A cryptographic proof can support integrity but does not explain the scope or legal responsibility of the report.

Design the payment and settlement leg

Delivery-versus-payment may use bank rails, stablecoins, tokenized deposits, or another settlement asset. Each has different timing, reversibility, finality, and compliance characteristics. Create a settlement instruction with both obligations, deadlines, parties, and exception states.

Do not call a process atomic unless both obligations settle under one enforceable mechanism. Cross-chain and off-chain coordination can create intermediate exposure. The API should show pending, failed, partially completed, canceled, and manually resolved states.

Reconcile the full system of record

Continuously compare token supply, the authoritative holder register, custodian or asset records, cash accounts, pending workflows, and blockchain events. Classify timing differences separately from unexplained breaks. Serious differences can trigger controlled suspension of minting or redemption according to governance.

The RWA tokenization field note provides a resource model for assets, token classes, eligibility, subscriptions, distributions, settlement, and reconciliation. The compliance guide covers identity, policy, privacy, and reporting layers.

Scope note: A token does not by itself establish legal rights, backing, custody, eligibility, or settlement. Those properties depend on the documented structure and applicable law.
Next step

Design the lifecycle before the mint endpoint.

Issue, transfer, service, value, reconcile, and redeem the claim through versioned workflows that connect onchain actions to off-chain authority.
